HOLIDAY POP-UP EASEL CARDS

A few months ago, I shared a Fall pop-up easel card that I had made using the Winter Porch Pop-Up Easel Card dies from Poppystamps, and today I'm sharing a holiday version.

Isn't this gray house pretty with the red door?  I made several of these cards months ago because it's just easier to get all of the components die-cut and punched, and then the assembly process is a breeze.  As you can see from the next two photos, some of my cards featured a warm taupe color and trees in the window.  I started using the vellum with stamped trees but then decided the trees weren't necessary since I was "building" a sizeable wreath on the front of the door.

Making these cards was relaxing and exciting, too, because I knew the recipients would love them!

I probably have a couple more Christmas card photos to share.  I didn't have as great a variety this year as I normally do, but I loved each and every card that got mailed.  That's always my rule . . . if I don't love it, I don't send it.  😉

"POINSETTIA PETALS" FA LA LA CARD

One of my favorite Christmas cards this year featured Stampin' Up!'s Poinsettia dies, Red Velvet Paper Pack, Wonderful Gems, Gold Foil, and Wrapped in Christmas stamp set.  The velvet paper has been so perfect for poinsettias, and my aunt Betty says the flower looks amazingly real!  She's right!

I think this card is sooooooooo pretty, and I can say that because it was inspired by a card that Keisha Campbell created for My Favorite Things Fa La La die-namics two years ago.  That's right . . . two years ago!  Be careful because this card will get into your head, too, if you look at it for very long.  Oops!  I'll bet it's already in your head!  The layout is clean and simple, but there's plenty of dimension, texture, and visual interest.  The red velvet paper absolutely pops against the white layers, and I love the peek-a-boo that the designer paper is doing behind the fa-la-la layer.

Hopefully, I'll get my other Christmas cards posted this week, so visit again if you have time.  I know this is a busy (and exciting) week!

WHEN I AM WEAK, HE IS STRONG . . . CURTAIN-FOLD CARD

A sweet lady that I worked with for a short while has had a difficult situation to face and deal with, and I wanted to send a card to let her know that she is in my thoughts and prayers.  I'm pretty sure that purple is her favorite color, and I thought the Perennial Essence designer paper (retired, Stampin' Up!) that I chose was perfect.

I believe the fun fold featured on the front is referred to as a "curtain fold"--that's what I call it--and it's a really fun way to dress up the front of a card without adding bulk.  This fold is especially fun when you have a hard time deciding which side of the designer paper to use.  I don't remember the exact measurement of my DSP, but I think it was 4" x 11.5".  I know the 11.5" measurement is correct.  The one and only cut to the paper is a diagonal cut that's approximately 1" or 1.25" from the edge.  The photo below should make sense.  The diagonal line is the cut line.

After cutting the paper, score it at the following measurements:  1", 2.5", 3.25", 4.75", 5.75", 7.25", 8", 9.5", and 10.25".  Accordion-fold the scored lines, and then use a little bit of adhesive to secure each fold.  So easy, huh?

The sentiment, from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps' Be Encouraged set, was inked with VersaMark, stamped onto a scrap piece of Vellum cardstock, and heat-embossed with black embossing powder.  Liquid adhesive was very carefully (strategically) placed on the back of the Vellum so it would stick to the designer paper without showing.  I enjoyed making this card, and it demonstrates how easy it is let designer paper take center stage.
