IT'S AN ART PARTY! . . . MAY BONUS PROJECT

BUTTERFLY PIZZA BOX CARD SET

This card box set has a mini “pizza” box to hold the cards in, and the box is decorated with a pretty butterfly belly band. The box holds a total of six, 4” x 4” cards and coordinating envelopes. This tutorial includes the instructions on how to make the mini “pizza” box, three different card designs (two are made of each), and the envelopes for the 4” x 4” cards. The set features the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set and English Garden Designer Series Paper. This would make a great card class, too.

"FLOWERING FIELDS" FOR AUNT BETTY

My favorite stamp set during Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-Bration promotion earlier this year was Flowering Fields.  The assorted floral images in that set are so perfect for a set of cards, which is exactly what I wanted to make yesterday.  I learned last week that aunt Betty has been sending cards (who knew that my sweet 90-year-old aunt ever sent cards), so I wanted to make a simple set for her. 

Although the design of these cards is clean and simple, I nearly went blind coloring the images--they are kind of small.  Seriously, I had blurry vision, so don't look too closely or you'll see that some color landed outside the lines.  I think aunt Betty will be very pleased with this set of cards, and I tried to choose versatile sentiments that will (hopefully) allow her to find the perfect note card for most people/occasions/events, etc.  Following is the boxed set that I will personally deliver very soon:

POP OF PINK

Sharing today a card that features Stampin' Up!'s brand new Pop of Pink designer paper and washi tape, as well as Melon Mambo twine.  This has already been a very popular designer paper among demonstrators--rightfully so.  It's gorgeous!

If you're like me,  you're anxious for June 1 to roll around and the opportunity to order some of the brand new products, but it's good to have the time to work on my wish list!  ;-)  It's not easy trying to decide what will be on the first order and what will have to wait.  Stampin' Up!'s new catalog is a great one!

CARD CANDY FLIP BOOK

Today I'm excited to share a sneak peek photo of the project that I designed for Craft Project Central's May session of awesome project/ensemble tutorials.  Several years ago, "card candy" was quite a popular deal for stampers and card-makers and, since I really enjoyed the convenience of card candy, I decided to design a flip book that was decorated with removable card candy and embellishments that some lucky recipient could thoroughly enjoy.  The other reason that I fell in love with the idea of this flip book is that it encourages the recipient to not only create beautiful cards but to also put them in the mail to brighten someone's day.  It's kind of sad that social media has left many mailboxes with fewer cards each year, so let's change that!  Following is the introduction that I wrote for my project:

Create a flip book, complete with elements that flip and open, with card candy that the recipient can remove and use to decorate note and greeting cards.  One of the “flip” elements is a glassine bag that holds twine and jewels to further decorate the cards.  The flip book includes a pocket to hold an instructional note for the recipient, and there’s another pocket to hold additional embellishments, punched or die-cut shapes, stamped sentiments, etc.  This tutorial includes eight assorted card candy decorative layers, including the one on the front of the flip book, which can be lifted from the book and adhered to a card.  This is a fabulous project to make for another stamper/card-maker, and it would also be a great stamp camp project.

SKETCH CHALLENGE #59 - CARD #2

I had another stamped flower on my table, so I decided to create another card for Creating Pretty Cards - Sketch Challenge #59.
